Farmyard Kitchen is a Frozen prepared food business operated from Farm Welgeleë outside Trichardt. This exciting new venture forms a natural extension of the farm’s existing divisions, namely the cattle farming, grain production and the feedlot. Combining these attributes with the passionate culinary expertise of both Igna Beukes and Hannie Theron, this division of the farm is going from strength to strength. Hestie Truter, a final year B.Sc (Consumer Science – Food Nutrition) student is managing the production facility on the farm.
Farmyard Kitchen trains and employs Farm Welgeleë residents, empowering local members of our community that now forms part of our Farmyard Family. All beef products are produced on our farm where animals are fed with non-genetically modified yellow maize. We do not use any growth stimulants and our Grainfields produced beef is of excellent quality. Farmyard Kitchen also procures vegetables and eggs from local farms residents.
The Farmyard Kitchen factory is registered and approved by the Gert Sibande District Municipality with regards to the Regulations governing General Hygiene for Food Premises and Transport of Food and Related matters.
Recent research confirmed that freezing food is the most natural form of preservation. Our meals are made from the finest ingredients guaranteeing a balanced and nutrient-packed diet. The one thing we have on the farm, is time. And time is what we don’t attempt to save when we prepare our meals. And you will taste it…
But we sell much more than frozen meals – we sell time. And we appreciate that time is a scarce commodity for working parents and for people with busy lifestyles. Our products combine good old farm prepared goodness with the peace of mind that you are enjoying a balanced diet.

Our Chicken Pie is one of the “best in the business”. Tender pieces of chicken are grilled and then cooked to ensure the goodness of a typical farm-style pie, topped with puff pastry and filled with goodness… and oh yes, pees for the healthy ones.
made with our own Grainfields produced beef mince is a hot favourite. A thick gravy fulled with caramelized onions brings out the flavours of the tender meat, while the puff pastry covers the delicious aromas that awaits the diner…
Can Macaroni and Cheese ever loose it’s place on our menus? Definitely not! We all grew up with this traditional “grab and go”-meal… it is so simple, but requires a skill to prepare… and we do this VERY GOOD! A must have!
with rice is a not to be missed meal. The chicken is prepared in a thick creamy yogurt sauce with exploding curry and masala flavours, just waiting to reach the tongue. We combine this sauce with a dash of carrots, absorbing the mild curry flavours and rounding off this complete meal.
No menu will be complete without South African Bobotie, served with yellow rice and raisons. A meal with a thousand familiar flavours combined into a single dish, representing our country’s rich history and heritage.
